History
Agronomy Study Program is one of the five oldest study programs, as it began admitting students at the same time as the approval of the University of Jember (UNEJ) as a public university through the Minister of PTIP Decree No. 151 of 1964 on November 10, 1964. From 1964 to 2007, the Agronomy Study Program was accredited by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT), as follows:
Based on the BAN-PT Decree No. 01127/Ak-1.1/UJXAGR/VIII/1998 dated August 11, 1998, with an accreditation rating of A (Excellent), valid until August 10, 2003.
Based on the BAN-PT Decree No. 021/BAN-PT/Ak-IX/S1/XI/2005 dated November 17, 2005, with an accreditation rating of B (Good), valid until November 21, 2010.
With the improved academic climate in the Agronomy Bachelor's Program, in 2000, it was given the opportunity to manage the Agronomy Master's Program (S2) through the Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture Decree No. 454/Dikti/Kep/1999 dated November 23, 1999, regarding the opening of the Agronomy Master's Program at the University of Jember. The Agronomy Master's Program was accredited by BAN-PT, as follows:
Based on the BAN-PT Decree No. 005/BAN-PT/Ak-V/S2/VII/2006 dated July 27, 2006, with an accreditation rating of B (Good), valid until 2011.
Based on the BAN-PT Decree No. 158/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-XI/M/VII/2013 dated July 20, 2013, with an accreditation rating of B (Good), valid until 2018.
In the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 academic years, the Agronomy Study Program was also entrusted by the Directorate of Higher Education to manage the Agronomy Bachelor's Program with concentrations in Coffee and Cocoa through the Outstanding Scholarship Program. The management of the regular Agronomy Study Program and the Agronomy Study Program (BU) was assessed as good and successful, leading to the Agronomy Study Program receiving an Award from the Rector of the University of Jember in 2009 as the Best Study Program in UNEJ based on the evaluation of undergraduate study programs within UNEJ.
However, since the 2008/2009 academic year, due to the policy of the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Agronomy Study Program did not admit students until the 2015/2016 academic year. During this time, prospective students choosing study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture at all universities, except for IPB and UGM, could only select the Agrotechnology and Agribusiness Study Programs for the Bachelor's (S1) level. Then, through the letter from the Director of Learning and Student Affairs Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture No. 0404/E3.2/2015 dated February 2, 2015, study programs that were not allowed to be offered were given the opportunity to be reactivated.
The proposal to reactivate the Agronomy Study Program has also received recommendations from the Senate of the University of Jember through letter No. 2400/UN25/KL/2015 dated February 26, 2015. In 2016, the Director of the Directorate General of Science, Technology, and Higher Education Institutional Affairs KEMENRISTEKDIKTI issued letter No. 1104/C/KL/2015 dated December 21, 2015, announcing the opening of study programs at state universities in 2016. The Agronomy Study Program was proposed again as a new study program and has received recommendations from the Senate of the University of Jember through letter No. 75/UN25/KL/2016 dated January 5, 2016. In 2021, the Agronomy Bachelor's Study Program received an accreditation rating of "Good" from BAN-PT based on the Decree No. 10316/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VIII/2021, valid from August 24, 2021, to August 24, 2026.
